China's national standard, "Safety Regulations for Electrochemical Energy Storage Power Stations", has been released recently, which will come into effect on July 1,2023.
This national standard is applicable to lithium-ion batteries, lead-acid (carbon) batteries, flow batteries, water electrolysis hydrogen production / fuel cell energy storage power stations. The standard stipulates the safety technical requirements, operation, maintenance, overhaul, test and other aspects of the equipment and facilities of electrochemical energy storage power stations.
Energy storage fire is an important line of defense electrochemical energy storage power station safety, and as an electrochemical energy storage plant medium lithium battery in the process of fire, battery internal sustained chemical reaction may lead to domino effect, and even the possibility of explosion, the traditional energy storage fire scheme can not solve the fundamental hidden trouble, it also gave rise to the energy storage fire field related policies and standards.
In recent years, The State Council, the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission have intensively issued fire safety policies for energy storage, and fire standards have gradually tightened from station level to more refined modules.
According to the data, energy storage fire protection accounts for about 3% of the cost of energy storage system. As electrochemical energy storage safety is paid more and more attention by terminal power station owners, the construction standards and requirements of fire protection equipment of energy storage system are gradually improving, and its unit value is expected to gradually increase with the improvement of fire safety standards and requirements.
The rapid development of energy storage track has brought incremental demand to the fire protection industry, and the market size has expanded rapidly in recent years.
According to the NESP data, the scale of energy storage fire protection market in 2021-2025 is 175 million yuan, 705 million yuan, 2.157 billion yuan, 3.787 billion yuan and 7.481 billion yuan respectively, and the 2021-2025 CAGR is 155.7%.
In 2023, energy storage and fire protection is expected to start to increase. In 25 years, new energy storage in China is expected to account for 30% of the global new installed capacity. Fire enterprises will fully benefit from the cooperation with domestic energy storage system integration manufacturers.
